Chaz Green, born on April 8, 1992, is a former American professional football player. He played as an offensive tackle in the National Football League (NFL). The Dallas Cowboys chose him in the third round of the 2015 NFL draft. Before playing professionally, he played college football for the Florida Gators. He also played for several other NFL teams, including the New Orleans Saints, Oakland Raiders, Denver Broncos, Indianapolis Colts, and Pittsburgh Steelers.

Early Life and High School Football

Chaz Green grew up in Tampa, Florida. He went to Tampa Catholic High School. There, he was a starting player at left tackle for the football team.

As a junior, he was named to the second-team FSWA 2A all-state. In his senior year, he helped his team achieve a great record of 11 wins and 2 losses. His team also rushed for over 3,000 yards. He was considered one of the best offensive linemen in the country.

College Football Career

Green decided to play college football at the University of Florida. He chose Florida over other big schools like Ohio State and Georgia. He was a highly-rated recruit.

Starting at Florida

In 2010, Green did not play in any games. He was a "redshirt" player, meaning he practiced but saved a year of eligibility.

In 2011, he started his first eight games as a right tackle. He then hurt his ankle and missed four games. Even with the injury, Green earned honors as a Freshman All-American.

Injuries and Position Changes

As a sophomore, he started 10 games. However, he missed two games because of another injury. In 2013, he missed the entire season. This was due to a shoulder injury he had before the season started.

The next year, in 2014, he started 11 games. He played both right tackle (9 games) and left tackle (2 games).

Professional Football Career

Chaz Green was chosen by the Dallas Cowboys in the 2015 NFL Draft. He was the 91st player picked overall. Some teams were worried about his past injuries, which might have caused him to be drafted later.

Dallas Cowboys (2015–2017)

Green joined the Cowboys but had hip surgery in June 2015. This meant he missed all of training camp. He started the season on a special list for injured players. He was ready to play in December but did not play in any games that season.

In 2016, he was a backup player. He filled in for injured starters. He started at left tackle in two games. During one of these games, he hurt his foot. This injury kept him out for several weeks. Later, he had a back injury and missed many games. He ended up on the injured reserve list in December.

In 2017, Green was considered for a starting spot at right tackle. However, he was still recovering from his back injury. This allowed another player, La'el Collins, to take the starting role. Green then became the starting left guard. He started the first three games of the season in this position.

Later in 2017, Green played left tackle in a game against the Kansas City Chiefs. The next game, he started at left tackle against the Atlanta Falcons. He had a tough game, allowing several sacks. He was replaced by another player during the game. After this, he did not play for the rest of the season.

In 2018, the Cowboys signed another offensive tackle. Green was asked to focus on playing right tackle. He struggled during preseason games. He also had issues with dehydration during training camp. The Cowboys released him on September 1, 2018.

New Orleans Saints (2018)

On October 24, 2018, Green signed with the New Orleans Saints. He was with the team for about a month before being released on November 21, 2018.

Oakland Raiders (2018–2019)

A few days later, on November 27, 2018, Green signed with the Oakland Raiders. He started one game for the Raiders in December.

He re-signed with the Raiders in March 2019. However, the Raiders cut him again in May 2019.

Denver Broncos (2019)

On June 3, 2019, Green signed with the Denver Broncos. He was released by the Broncos on August 31, 2019.

Indianapolis Colts (2020)

On December 30, 2019, Green signed a contract with the Indianapolis Colts. He was released on September 6, 2020, but then re-signed to the team's active roster on the same day. He played in 15 games for the Colts, starting one of them. He missed one game due to a back injury.

Pittsburgh Steelers (2021–2022)

On July 20, 2021, the Pittsburgh Steelers signed Green to a one-year contract. He was waived by the team on August 31, 2021. The next day, he re-signed to their practice squad. On September 27, Green was moved to the active roster. He signed another contract with the Steelers in January 2022.
