Chen Zhongshi (simplified Chinese: 陈忠实; traditional Chinese: 陳忠實; pinyin: Chén Zhōngshí; 3 August 1942 – 29 April 2016) was a Chinese author. He started writing in 1965. His best known work is White Deer Plain which was published in 1993. He won the Mao Dun Literature Prize in 1997.
In 1966, Chen joined the Chinese Communist Party. He was interested in writing and soon began to work on a writing career. In 1979, he became a member of the Chinese Writers Association.
Chen died in Xi'an, Shaanxi from oral cancer on 29 April 2016, aged 73.
