These wins were in 2002, 2006, and 2010. She also won a world championship title in 2004.

Cherie's Hockey Journey

Cherie Piper started her national hockey journey early. From 1999 to 2001, she played for Canada's Under-22 team. This team helps young players get ready for the senior national team. In 1999, she also played for Ontario in the Canada Winter Games. This is a big multi-sport event for young athletes across Canada.

During the 2000–01 season, Cherie played for the Beatrice Aeros. She was one of the top scorers in the league. In 2002, she made a big leap. She was chosen for the Olympic team for the Salt Lake City Games. This was a huge moment for her career. In her first Olympic game, she scored a goal and an assist. She helped Canada win the gold medal that year.

Playing for Dartmouth College

After the Olympics, Cherie played college hockey. She spent four seasons at Dartmouth College from 2002 to 2007. She was a star player for the Dartmouth Big Green team. In 99 games, she scored 60 goals and made 165 assists. That's a lot of points!

In 2004, she took a break from college hockey. She joined the Canadian national team for the 2004 Women's World Ice Hockey Championships. There, she helped Canada win another gold medal. In 2005, she was a finalist for the Patty Kazmaier Award. This award goes to the best female college ice hockey player in the United States. She led Dartmouth in scoring that season with 60 points.

More Olympic Success

Cherie won her second Olympic gold medal in 2006. She was a top scorer in that tournament. She had 15 points, second only to the legendary Hayley Wickenheiser.

Later, a knee injury kept her off the national team for over a year. She missed the 2007 World Championships. But she worked hard to come back. She rejoined the team for the 2008 Women's World Ice Hockey Championships. There, she earned her second silver medal. Even though she was cut from the 2009 team, she fought her way back. She earned a spot on the 2010 Olympic team. This led to her winning an amazing third consecutive gold medal!

Inline Hockey Champion

Cherie Piper wasn't just great at ice hockey. She also played inline hockey. This sport is similar to ice hockey but played on rollerblades. She was part of the Canada women's national inline hockey team. In 2002, she won a gold medal at the FIRS Inline Hockey World Championships. This shows her talent across different hockey styles.
