About the Chevrolet Lumina
The Chevrolet Lumina was designed to be a comfortable and reliable car for families. It was known for being a good everyday car.
Lumina Generations
The Chevrolet Lumina changed its design and features several times over the years. These different versions are called "generations."
First Generation (1990-1994)
The very first Lumina models came out in 1990. During this time, you could get it as a two-door coupe or a four-door sedan. This generation helped set the stage for the Lumina's popularity.
Second Generation (1995-2001)
From 1995 to 2001, the Lumina was mainly sold as a four-door sedan. This version had updated looks and features. In North America, Chevrolet stopped making the Lumina around 2000. This was because sales started to slow down. Also, a new version of the Chevrolet Impala became very popular, and many people chose that car instead.
Later Generations (1998-Present)
Even after it stopped being sold in North America, the Lumina name continued in other parts of the world. In some parts of Asia, the Lumina name was used for a car similar to the Buick Regal. In other places, like the Middle East and South Africa, the Lumina was actually a different car called the Holden Commodore from Australia, but it was sold with the Chevrolet Lumina name.
