The Chevrolet Lumina was a mid-sized sedan that is built by the Chevrolet brand. The Lumina was discontinued in North America from 1990 to 2001 and is currently being produced in the Middle East and South Africa. The Lumina has four generations, the first generation was a mid-sized 2-door coupe and 4-door sedan and was produced from 1990 to 1994, The second generation which is a mid-sized 4-door sedan and was produced from 1995-2001, The third generation which was a mid-sized 4-door sedan and was produced from 1998 to 2006 and the fourth generation which is a mid-sized 4-door sedan and is produced from 2006 to present. The Lumina is manufactured by General Motors company. The Lumina could be bought in a minivan, coupe or sedan. In North America Chevrolet discontinued the Lumina in 2000 due to dwindling sales and the success of the reborn Impala. The Lumina nameplate was still used in some markets, in parts of Asia it was applied to the mid-sized Buick Century/Regal and a badge engineered version of the Holden Commodore sports sedan.
