The Chicoutimi Saguenéens are a Canadian junior ice hockey team. They play in the Quebec Maritimes Junior Hockey League (QMJHL). The team is located in Chicoutimi, Quebec. The City of Saguenay owns the team. They play their home games at the Centre Georges-Vézina.

Team History

The Chicoutimi Saguenéens team started in the 1973–74 hockey season. Their name, Saguenéens, means "People from the Saguenay region." Fans often call them the "Sags."

The Sags have won the President's Cup twice. This cup is the championship trophy for the QMJHL. They won it in the 1990–91 season and again in 1993–94. After winning the President's Cup, they went to the Memorial Cup. This is a big tournament for the best junior hockey teams in Canada. The Sags did not win the Memorial Cup in those years.

They also played in the 1997 Memorial Cup because they were the host team. Even as hosts, they did not win the tournament. Their home arena, the Centre Georges-Vézina, also hosted the Memorial Cup in 1988. However, the team did not play in that tournament.

Home Arena

The team plays its games at the Centre Georges-Vézina. This arena is their home base for practices and matches. It is where fans come to cheer on the Sags.
