Chief's College Basketball Journey
Starting at Stetson
After high school, Chief Kickingstallionsims joined the Stetson Hatters men's basketball team. This was his first step into college basketball.
Freshman Year (2004-2005)
Chief played his first college game on December 28, 2004. He scored 2 points, grabbed 1 rebound, and blocked 2 shots. Blocking shots means stopping the other team from scoring. He blocked a season-high 4 shots in a game against Campbell. In his first year, he averaged 0.6 points, 1.3 rebounds, and 0.7 blocks per game. He played in 11 games but did not start any of them.
Sophomore Year (2005-2006)
Chief started his second year at Stetson playing against North Carolina State. He scored 2 points in that game. On December 27, 2005, he had his best game yet, scoring 11 points against the Miami Hurricanes. This was the first time he scored double-digits in a game. However, he didn't become a regular starter for the team. He finished the season averaging 2.4 points, 1.8 rebounds, and 0.7 blocks. In total, he blocked 22 shots during his sophomore year.
Moving to Alabama State
On June 6, 2006, Chief decided to transfer to a different college. This means he moved from Stetson to another school. He had to sit out the 2006–07 season because of NCAA transfer rules. Later, it was announced that he would play for the Alabama State Hornets. His new coach, Lewis Jackson, was excited, saying Chief would bring a strong presence inside the paint.
Junior Year (2007-2008)
Chief made his debut for Alabama State on November 10, 2007. He had a great game, scoring 14 points, grabbing 6 rebounds, and blocking 3 shots. He was named the starting center for the team. On December 20, 2007, he broke his personal record for points in a game. He also achieved his first "double-double" on January 2, 2008. A double-double means getting double-digit numbers (10 or more) in two different stats, like 11 points and 11 rebounds. On March 8, 2008, Chief scored a career-high 22 points. By the end of the season, he averaged 7.7 points, 3.6 rebounds, and 0.7 blocks per game.
Senior Year (2008-2009)
Chief's final college season began on December 15, 2008. He scored 6 points, had 5 rebounds, and blocked 3 shots. On January 5, 2009, he set a new career high with 23 points against Grambling State. He then topped that on January 26, 2009, scoring 24 points against Alcorn State. Chief finished his senior year with his best numbers in scoring, rebounding, and shot-blocking. He averaged 8.5 points, 4.0 rebounds, and 2.4 blocks. He was also named the Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) Defensive Player of the Year. This award recognized him as the best defensive player in his conference.
Chief's Professional Basketball Career
After college, Chief Kickingstallionsims was not chosen in the 2009 NBA draft. This means no NBA team picked him. However, he still worked out with NBA teams like the Dallas Mavericks and New York Knicks.
Early Professional Years
Chief then signed with ENAD in Cyprus for the 2009–10 season. He was a top player there, leading the league in blocks and ranking fifth in rebounds. He averaged 10.7 points, 6.5 rebounds, and 2.2 blocks per game. After this, he trained with the Los Angeles Lakers of the NBA.
Unfortunately, Chief could not play for two years because of an illness. After he recovered, he joined BC Timba Timișoara in Romania. He continued to be a strong shot-blocker, finishing fourth in the league. He was also named an All-Star, which means he was one of the best players in the league. He averaged 7.8 points, 4.2 rebounds, and 1.4 blocks per game.
Later Professional Years
In 2013, Chief was drafted by the Austin Toros in the 2013 NBA Development League Draft. This league is now called the NBA G-League and helps players get to the NBA. However, the Toros released him later that year.
