Chimay is a small city and a group of towns in Belgium. It's located in the province of Hainaut, which is part of Wallonia. In 2006, about 9,774 people lived there. The area is about 197 square kilometers. This means there are about 50 people living in each square kilometer.
Chimay is also where the Oise River begins. In 1977, 14 smaller towns joined together to form the municipality of Chimay. The town is very famous for its Chimay Brewery, which is run by Trappist monks at Scourmont Abbey. They make special beers and cheeses.
