Exploring Chone's Geography
Where Chone is Located
Chone is located near the coast. This means it can get a lot of rain. During the rainy season, the streets sometimes flood. This can make it hard to get around. Many people in Chone build their homes on bamboo stilts. This helps keep the water out of their houses.
The Chone River and Nearby Beaches
The city sits on the banks of the important Río Chone. As the river flows west, it widens into an estuary. This estuary connects to coastal cities like Bahía de Caráquez and San Vicente.
If you want to visit the beach, the closest ones are about two hours away. These include Crucita, San Vicente, and San Clemente. The city of Manta also has a popular beach.
