Chowdhury Kamal Ibne Yousuf (born in 1940, died on December 9, 2020) was an important politician from Bangladesh. He served as a government minister and was a key leader in the Bangladesh Nationalist Party.

Chowdhury Kamal Ibne Yousuf was born into a well-known family in the Faridpur area of Bangladesh. His family were once zamindars, which means they were powerful landowners in the past.

His grandfather was a zamindar named Chowdhury Moyezuddin Biwshash. His father, Yusuf Ali Chowdhury, was a political leader during British rule and in Pakistan. Chowdhury Kamal Ibne Yousuf also had an uncle, Chowdhury Abdallah Zaheeruddin (Lal Mia), who was a minister in the government of President Ayub Khan. Another uncle, Enayet Hossain Chowdhury, became a member of the National Assembly of Pakistan.

Political Journey

Chowdhury Kamal Ibne Yousuf started his political career by joining the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP). This party was formed in 1979 by President Ziaur Rahman.

Early Career

He was first elected to the parliament in 1979. In 1981, he became a minister in the government led by President Justice Abdus Sattar.

Serving as Minister

He was elected to parliament again in 1991. At that time, he became the Minister for Health in the government of Prime Minister Begum Khaleda Zia. Even when his party, the BNP, lost power in the 1996 elections, he still won his seat in parliament.

He won the elections again in 2001. After this victory, he was made the Minister for Food and Disaster Management. This was a very important job, helping to manage food supplies and prepare for natural disasters in Bangladesh.

Later Years

Chowdhury Kamal Ibne Yousuf lost his parliamentary seat in the 2008 general elections. He continued to be an important figure in his party, serving as the vice-chairman of the BNP.

Personal Life and Passing

Chowdhury Kamal Ibne Yousuf had one daughter, named Chowdhury Naiab Yusuf. He passed away on December 9, 2020. His death was due to COVID-19 during the worldwide COVID-19 pandemic in Bangladesh.
