Chris Applebaum is a talented director from Los Angeles, California. He is famous for directing many music videos for popular artists. Some of his well-known videos include Party in the U.S.A. by Miley Cyrus, Dive by Usher, and Heart Attack by Demi Lovato.
Chris has directed 30 videos that reached the number one spot on the MTV music charts. Besides music videos, he has also directed fitness videos and commercials. He has worked for big companies like Skechers and Carl's Jr.

Who is Chris Applebaum?
His Early Life and Start
Chris Applebaum was born in 1970 in Los Angeles, California. He went to Hampshire College in Amherst, Massachusetts to study film. While he was still in college, Chris started directing videos for independent rock bands. His very first video came out in 1992. It was for the song Everything by the band Material Issue.
When Chris was 19, MTV asked him to join their team in New York City. At 21, he signed with Satellite Films. He became their youngest director ever! Under this contract, he directed more than 250 films. In the 1990s, Chris also started his own record label called Indi 500.
Making Famous Videos and Ads
In 1995, Chris Applebaum directed the video for "Good" by Better Than Ezra. This video helped him become more recognized. After that, he directed many other famous works. These included "Stacy's Mom" for Fountains of Wayne.
He also directed commercials for big brands. One famous commercial was for Carl's Jr. and featured Paris Hilton. He also made ads for CoverGirl and Smirnoff. His Carl's Jr. commercial was even called the most aired TV commercial ever!
Big Hits and Awards
In 2007, Chris directed the music video for Rihanna's song "Umbrella". Chris later said that "Umbrella" is the video he is most proud of. This video also sold more than any other music video on iTunes.
Chris Applebaum's video for "Stacy's Mom" even inspired a campaign for Apple's iPod. His video for Closing Time by Semisonic helped inspire parts of a TV show called The X-Files.
Chris has won several awards for his work. These include:
- The 2010 MUCH Best International Video for Party in the U.S.A.
- The 2007 VMA Video of the Year award for Umbrella.
- The 2006 MUCH Best Video for a Female Artist for S.O.S.
Chris Applebaum has directed many other notable videos, including "Party in the U.S.A.". Today, he says he mostly focuses on directing commercials instead of music videos.
