High School Basketball Days
Chris Douglas-Roberts played high school basketball in Detroit, Michigan. He attended Cass Technical High School and Northwestern High School.
At Cass Tech in 2003 and 2004, he was a star player. He scored about 28 points, grabbed 10 rebounds, and made 6 assists per game. After the 2004 season, he moved to Northwestern High. Due to transfer rules, he played less at first. Still, he averaged 13.8 points and 5.4 rebounds that season.
Experts like Rivals.com saw him as a top player. In 2005, he was ranked among the best shooting guards and overall players in the country.
Becoming a College Star
During his first year at the University of Memphis, Chris played in 34 games. He started 25 of those games. He averaged 8.3 points, 3.3 rebounds, and 1.5 assists. His great play earned him a spot on the Conference USA All-Freshman Team.
In his second year, he started all 35 games. He led the Tigers in scoring, averaging 15.4 points per game. He received many awards, including being named to the All-Conference USA first team.
His junior year was very exciting. He helped the Tigers reach the 2008 NCAA tournament championship game. He scored an amazing 23.3 points per game during the six tournament games. The Tigers finished second, losing a close game to the Kansas Jayhawks in overtime.
At the end of that season, he was named a first-team All-American. He finished his college career with a total of 1,545 points.
Playing Professional Basketball
Starting in the NBA
On April 18, 2008, Chris Douglas-Roberts decided to enter the 2008 NBA draft. The New Jersey Nets picked him as the 40th overall player. On July 9, 2008, he officially signed with the Nets.
In June 2010, the Nets traded him to the Milwaukee Bucks.
Playing in Italy
In September 2011, Chris moved to Italy. He joined a team called Virtus Bologna.
Back in the NBA and D-League
In October 2012, Chris signed with the Los Angeles Lakers, but was later waived. He then signed with the Dallas Mavericks, but was waived again. On November 1, 2012, he joined the Texas Legends in the NBA D-League.
He re-signed with the Dallas Mavericks in December 2012 but was waived in January 2013.
In July 2013, he played for the Los Angeles Lakers in the 2013 NBA Summer League. He signed with the New York Knicks in October 2013, but was waived later that month.
In November 2013, he returned to the Texas Legends. On December 11, 2013, he signed with the Charlotte Bobcats. On April 14, 2014, he made a game-winning shot at the buzzer against the Atlanta Hawks.
In September 2014, Douglas-Roberts signed with the Los Angeles Clippers.
He was later traded to the Boston Celtics in January 2015, but was waived a few days later. In September 2015, he signed with the New Orleans Pelicans, but was waived before the regular season began. He returned to the Texas Legends in February 2016.
Chris Douglas-Roberts' last NBA game was on January 11, 2015. He played for the Los Angeles Clippers in a game against the Miami Heat.

Personal Life
Chris Douglas-Roberts has several tattoos. One on his neck shows his mother. Another on the back of his neck has his initials, CDR. On his arm, he has verses from Psalm 37 of the Bible. He taps this arm tattoo three times before shooting a free throw.
During the 2010–11 pre-season, Chris had an eye injury called a retina tear. After surgery, he started wearing special protective eyewear when he played.
