Growing Up and High School Football
Chris Hairston grew up in Winston-Salem, North Carolina. He went to Carver High School. While playing football there, he was recognized as one of the best players in the state. The Associated Press named him to their First-team all-state list. This means he was considered one of the top players in North Carolina for his position.
He was also named an all-region and all-conference player during his junior and senior years. This shows he was a strong player in his local area. Chris played his entire senior year when he was only 16 years old. He was often playing against older and more experienced opponents.
Football experts at Rivals.com thought he was a good player. They called him a "three-star recruit." This means he was seen as a promising young talent. They ranked him as the 53rd best offensive tackle in the entire country. Chris chose to play college football at Clemson University. He had other offers from Hampton and South Carolina State.
College Football Career
Chris Hairston played college football for the Clemson Tigers. During his time at Clemson, he played in 47 games. He started 36 of those games. Starting means he was on the field at the very beginning of the game.

He played for the Buffalo Bills from 2011 to 2014. In 2013, he was placed on a special list that meant he couldn't play for the rest of that season.
San Diego / Los Angeles Chargers
Chris Hairston later signed with the San Diego Chargers on April 15, 2015. He continued his professional career with them.
In 2016, he signed a new two-year contract with the Chargers. The team later moved and became the Los Angeles Chargers. In 2017, he was again placed on a special list, which meant his season ended early.
