Chris Morris (born January 20, 1966) is a former American professional basketball player. He played as a small forward in the National Basketball Association (NBA) for 11 seasons, from 1988 to 1999. During his NBA career, he played for the New Jersey Nets, Utah Jazz, and Phoenix Suns. Chris Morris was known for his athletic playing style. He scored a total of 8,184 points in the NBA.

Early Life and High School Success
Chris Morris was born in Dawson, Georgia. He grew up in Atlanta and attended Frederick Douglass High School. In 1984, he led his high school basketball team to win their only state championship. Chris was named Mr. Basketball for the state of Georgia that year. In 1994, Douglass High School honored him by retiring his jersey number 34.
College Basketball Career
Chris Morris played college basketball at Auburn University from 1984 to 1988. While he was there, the Auburn Tigers men's basketball team won the SEC men's basketball tournament in 1985. Chris was recognized as one of the best players in the SEC. He was chosen for the first-team All-SEC in both 1987 and 1988.
Professional Basketball Career
Playing in the NBA
Chris Morris was a highly-rated player. He was picked as the 4th overall player in the 1988 NBA draft. In 1989, he took part in the NBA Slam Dunk Contest. The next season, he had his best year, starting 76 games and scoring a career-high 14.8 points per game.
Chris Morris was known for his strong personality. He sometimes had disagreements with his coaches during his career. For example, while playing for the Nets, he once refused to enter a game. Later, with the Jazz, he had a heated discussion with coach Jerry Sloan.
One memorable moment happened on March 2, 1993. While playing for the New Jersey Nets, Chris Morris performed a powerful slam dunk. This dunk was so strong that it shattered the backboard during a game against the Chicago Bulls.
Later in his career, Chris Morris played for the Utah Jazz. He helped the team reach the NBA Finals in 1997 and again in 1998. After the 1998–99 NBA season was shortened due to a lockout, he signed with the Phoenix Suns in February 1999.
Playing Internationally
After 11 seasons in the NBA, Chris Morris continued his basketball career overseas. In 1999, he joined Olympiacos B.C. in the Greek Basket League. However, he had to leave the team due to a knee injury.
In 2001, Chris Morris became a member of the famous Harlem Globetrotters. He then played for the Southern California Surf in the ABA in 2002. Later that year, he played for the Purefoods Tender Juicy Hotdogs in the Philippine Basketball Association. His last professional team was Gaiteros del Zulia in Venezuela, where he played during the 2003–2004 season.
