Christopher Vernard Morris (born January 20, 1966) is a former professional basketball player from the United States. He played as a small forward, standing 6 feet 8 inches tall. Chris Morris had an 11-season career in the National Basketball Association (NBA) from 1988 to 1999. During this time, he played for teams like the New Jersey Nets, Utah Jazz, and Phoenix Suns. He scored a total of 8,184 points in his NBA career.

Early Life and High School Success
Chris Morris was born in Dawson, Georgia. He grew up in Atlanta and attended Frederick Douglass High School. In 1984, he led his high school basketball team to win their only state championship. This was a huge achievement for the school!
Because of his amazing skills, Chris Morris was named "Mr. Basketball" for the state of Georgia. In 1994, Douglass High School honored him by retiring his jersey number 34. This means no other player at the school will wear that number again.
College Basketball Career
After high school, Chris Morris played college basketball at Auburn University. He was a key player for the Auburn Tigers from 1984 to 1988.
- In 1985, Auburn won the SEC men's basketball tournament.
- Chris Morris was chosen as a first-team All-SEC player in both 1987 and 1988. This shows he was one of the best players in his college league.

Playing in the NBA
Chris Morris was a highly-rated player when he entered the NBA. He was picked as the 4th overall player in the 1988 NBA draft.

On March 2, 1993, while playing for the New Jersey Nets, Chris Morris made a powerful slam dunk that shattered the backboard during a game against the Chicago Bulls. This was a memorable moment in his career!
Later, with the Utah Jazz, Chris Morris played in the 1997 and 1998 NBA Finals. These are the championship games of the NBA season.
After the 1998–99 NBA season was shortened, Morris joined the Phoenix Suns in February 1999.
Playing Around the World
After his time in the NBA, Chris Morris continued his basketball career internationally.
- In 1999, he played for Olympiacos B.C. in the Greek Basket League.
- In 2001, he joined the famous Harlem Globetrotters, known for their amazing basketball tricks and entertainment.
