Chris Owens, whose full name is Haywood Christopher Owens, was born on March 1, 1979. He is an American who used to play professional basketball. He was quite tall at 6 feet 8 inches and played as a power forward.

Chris Owens' College Basketball Journey

Chris Owens started his college basketball career at Tulane University. After one year, he moved to The University of Texas at Austin. He graduated from Texas in 2002. During his time there, he had a knee injury in December 2001. This injury meant he could not play for the rest of that season.

Chris Owens' Professional Basketball Career

Chris Owens was chosen by the Milwaukee Bucks in the 2002 NBA draft. He was picked in the second round. However, he was then traded to the Memphis Grizzlies. He played in only one NBA game with the Grizzlies. This game was on April 15, 2003, against the Houston Rockets. He scored 4 points and got 1 rebound in that game.

Playing in the United States and Europe

After his time in the NBA, Owens played for the Cedar Rapids River Raiders. This team was part of the United States Basketball League. In 2004, he moved to Europe to play basketball. He joined Banca Nuova Trapani in Italy. He played 30 games with them. He averaged about 19 points and 9 rebounds per game.

In 2005, he moved to CB Granada in Spain. He played there until January 2006. After that, he played for the Sioux Falls Skyforce in the Continental Basketball Association. He also played for Panionios in Greece during that season.

Playing in Germany, Turkey, and Ukraine

For the 2006–07 season, Chris Owens signed with ALBA Berlin in Germany. The next year, he moved to Galatasaray in Turkey.

In 2008, he went to Ukraine to play for BC Donetsk. He stayed with them until February 2010. Then, he signed with Panellinios in Greece.

Later Career in France, Ukraine, Croatia, Finland, and Argentina

In September 2010, Owens signed with Gravelines in France. He played only 4 games in the French League. In November 2010, he went back to Ukraine. He signed with Azovmash for the rest of that season.

For the 2011–12 season, he signed with KK Cedevita in Croatia. In July 2013, he signed a one-year deal with KTP-Basket in Finland. His last team was Argentino de Junín in Argentina, where he signed in September 2014. He finished his career in 2015.

Chris Owens has a famous relative! He is the great-nephew of Jesse Owens. Jesse Owens was a very famous track and field athlete from the 1930s. He won four gold medals at the 1936 Berlin Olympics.
