Thomas Christopher Parnell (born February 5, 1967) is an American actor and comedian. He is famous for being a cast member on the comedy show Saturday Night Live (SNL) and for his many voice acting roles. You might know his voice from popular animated shows.

Parnell has a deep and unique voice. He voiced the narrator on the PBS Kids show WordGirl. He was also the voice of Cyril Figgis in Archer and Jerry Smith in Rick and Morty. He has also appeared in many TV commercials.

Early Life and Education

Chris Parnell was born in Memphis, Tennessee. His father, Jack Parnell, was a radio host in Memphis. He went to Germantown High School and decided he wanted to be an actor when he was 17.

Parnell studied drama at the University of North Carolina School of the Arts. After college, he worked at the Alley Theatre in Houston, Texas. He later moved back to his hometown and taught acting at his old high school for a year. In 1992, he moved to Los Angeles and started taking classes with the comedy group The Groundlings.

Career

Saturday Night Live

After performing with The Groundlings, Parnell started getting roles in TV shows like Seinfeld and Murphy Brown. In 1998, he was hired to join the cast of Saturday Night Live. He was a cast member on the show for eight seasons, from 1998 to 2006.

On SNL, Parnell was in many funny sketches and fake commercials. He was known for being very professional and not laughing or breaking character during live sketches. This earned him the nickname "The Ice Man." One of his most famous sketches was a rap video called "Lazy Sunday" with Andy Samberg. He also appeared in the popular "More Cowbell" sketch.

Parnell is a very successful voice actor. He has provided voices for many animated shows and movies.

  • Family Guy: He voiced the character Doug.
