He also played with the super popular band AC/DC from 1989 to 1994. During his time with AC/DC, he played on their 1990 album The Razors Edge.

Chris Slade returned to AC/DC in February 2015 for their "Rock or Bust World Tour". He has also played with many other well-known artists and bands. These include Tom Jones, Uriah Heep, The Firm, and Asia.

Early Life and Music Career

Chris was one of the first members of Manfred Mann's Earth Band. He played on eight of their studio albums between 1972 and 1978. In the mid-1980s, he joined Paul Rodgers and Jimmy Page in a band called The Firm. He also played with Pink Floyd's David Gilmour and toured with Gary Moore.

Joining AC/DC

In November 1989, Chris Slade got a big opportunity. He was asked to join the legendary rock band AC/DC. The band needed a new drummer after Simon Wright left. Chris was first hired temporarily. But during the recording of their album, the band asked him to join permanently.

Chris played on the The Razors Edge album in 1990. He also went on the world tour that followed. He played on the song "Big Gun" in 1993. Later, AC/DC decided to bring back their former drummer, Phil Rudd. Chris Slade left the band at that time. He said it was an honor to play with AC/DC.

After leaving AC/DC, Chris Slade joined the progressive rock band Asia. He played with them for six years. Today, Chris Slade leads his own band called THE CHRIS SLADE TIMELINE. This band celebrates his 50 years as a rock drummer. They play songs from all the different bands he has been a part of.

Return to AC/DC

In 2015, there were rumors that Chris Slade might return to AC/DC. This happened after their drummer Phil Rudd was unable to continue. Chris was seen with the band in February 2015. He later confirmed that he would be the drummer for AC/DC's "Rock or Bust" world tour.

Chris played live with the band and appeared in their music videos. He was listed as their official drummer on AC/DC's website. However, in September 2020, AC/DC announced that Phil Rudd was returning to the band. This meant Chris Slade left AC/DC for the second time.
