Chris Smith (born October 13, 1987) is an American-Israeli professional basketball player. He plays as a Point guard or shooting guard. Chris has played for many teams, including Maccabi Haifa in Israel. He also played college basketball for Manhattan and Louisville.

Chris Smith's High School Days
Chris Smith was a talented athlete in high school. He played basketball at Lakewood High School for three years. During that time, he scored over 1,300 points! He also played football there as a wide receiver and kicker.
Later, he played his final year of high school basketball at St. Benedict's Prep. He was a top player, averaging 18.8 points per game. He also helped his team with rebounds, assists, and steals. Chris was even named to the first team All-Freelance League.
Chris Smith's College Basketball Journey
Chris started his college basketball career at Manhattan College. He played there for two years, from 2007 to 2009. As a freshman, he averaged almost 10 points per game. He improved in his second year, averaging 13.4 points per game. The Manhattan Jaspers had a winning record of 16–14 in his sophomore year.
After his time at Manhattan, Chris transferred to the University of Louisville. He played for the Cardinals during his junior and senior years. At Louisville, he continued to improve his game. He averaged around 9.5 points per game each year. His three-point shooting got much better too. In his junior year, the Louisville Cardinals had a great season with 25 wins and 10 losses.
Chris Smith's Professional Career
After college, Chris Smith hoped to join the NBA. He played for the New York Knicks' Summer League team in 2012. He even signed with the Knicks for a short time. However, he had surgery and was later waived by the team. He also played for the Erie BayHawks in the NBA Development League.
Chris then moved on to play basketball internationally. In 2015, he played for KB Peja in Kosovo. He also played in Canada for the Saint John Mill Rats in 2016.
Later, Chris found a home playing in Israel. He signed with Hapoel Galil Elyon in 2016. He also played for Ironi Nahariya and Maccabi Kiryat Motzkin. In 2019, he joined Hapoel Jerusalem. With Hapoel Jerusalem, he won the Israeli Basketball State Cup in 2020. More recently, he played for Maccabi Haifa from 2021 to 2023.
Chris Smith's Personal Life
Chris Smith comes from a big family. His parents are Ida and Earl Smith. He has three brothers and two sisters. His older brother, J. R. Smith, is also a well-known former NBA player.
In 2017, Chris made a big personal decision. He converted to Judaism and became an Israeli citizen. This allowed him to play in Israeli basketball leagues as a local player.
