History of Christiansburg
Christiansburg was officially planned and mapped out in 1817. It was named after Christiansburg, Virginia. This was the hometown of one of the first people to settle here.
A post office opened in Christiansburg in 1833. Today, this post office uses a special system. Residents get their mail through PO Boxes. Mail is not delivered directly to homes in the village. Christiansburg became an official village in 1835. This means it gained its own local government.
