She teaches at famous universities like Imperial College London and the University of Oxford. She is also a Fellow at St Peter's College, Oxford. She helps lead a big research center that looks at how infectious diseases affect the world. In 2022, she became the head of the Statistics Department at the University of Oxford.

Christl Donnelly went to college at Oberlin College in Ohio. There, she earned her first degree. Later, she studied at Harvard University in Boston. In 1992, she earned two advanced degrees there. Professor Donnelly's research uses math and statistics to understand how infectious diseases spread. She studies many different diseases. She also researches Middle East respiratory syndrome (MERS) and the Ebola virus disease.

She also studies diseases that can spread from animals to humans, called zoonoses. She has also worked on HIV/AIDS. Professor Donnelly is interested in how animals live and how to protect them. She has studied diseases in farm animals like bovine spongiform encephalopathy (BSE) and Foot-and-mouth disease in cattle. She also looked at bovine tuberculosis and rules about controlling badgers in the United Kingdom.

Awards and Honours

Professor Donnelly has received many important awards for her work. In 2016, she became a Fellow of the Royal Society (FRS). This is a very high honour for scientists in the UK. In 2015, she also became a Fellow of the Academy of Medical Sciences.

In 2018, she was given the title of Commander of the Order of the British Empire (CBE). This is a special award from the British monarch. In 2016, she won the Suffrage Science award. This award celebrates women in science.
