Christone "Kingfish" Ingram, born on January 19, 1999, is an amazing American blues guitarist and singer. He comes from Clarksdale, Mississippi. Kingfish became famous as a teenager for his incredible talent.

His Early Life
Christone Ingram was born in 1999 in Clarksdale, Mississippi. His parents are Princess Pride and Christopher Ingram. His mother was a cousin to the country musician Charley Pride.
Kingfish grew up in a family that loved music. Many of his relatives sang and played in church. He listened to and learned from music by legends like B. B. King, Muddy Waters, and Jimi Hendrix.
How He Started Music
Kingfish became interested in the blues when he was about five years old. His dad showed him a TV show about Muddy Waters. They also visited the Delta Blues Museum to learn more about blues music.
He learned to play from teachers at the museum's arts program. Kingfish also went to a summer music workshop in Clarksdale. One of his teachers gave him the nickname "Kingfish." This name came from a character in an old TV show called The Amos 'n' Andy Show.
Kingfish started playing drums when he was six. By age eleven, he was playing bass guitar. Soon after, he began playing the guitar. He even appeared on popular TV shows like Rachael Ray and Steve Harvey.
When he was fifteen, Kingfish was already getting offers to perform. He also received custom-made guitars. His friends often listened to hip hop music. Kingfish explained to them that blues music is like history. He said that hip hop music is like the "grandchild" of the blues.
By 2015, Kingfish had caught the eye of Tony Coleman. Tony was the drummer for the legendary B. B. King. Tony said Kingfish played the blues exactly as it should be.
Kingfish's Career
First Performances
Kingfish started playing concerts in his hometown when he was still in seventh grade. Soon, he had many fans in the area. He played at local places like Red's Lounge and Ground Zero Blues Club.
In November 2014, he performed for Michelle Obama at the White House. He was part of the Delta Blues Museum band.
In June 2017, he played at the Underground 119 blues club in Jackson, Mississippi. In August 2017, he was a main performer at the 10th St. Louis Blues Festival. He also appeared on a TV show called Jazz Night in America.

In 2017, Kingfish was featured on Eric Gales' album, Middle Of The Road. He also performed at The Chicago Blues Festival in 2018.
Kingfish appeared in the TV series Luke Cage. He was in episode 4 of season two, which came out in June 2018. He performed two songs in the show. In June 2018, he also performed with hip-hop artist Rakim for NPR Music's Tiny Desk Concerts.
His First Album: Kingfish
Kingfish's first album, Kingfish, was released on May 17, 2019. It was produced by Grammy-winning musician Tom Hambridge. The album quickly became the number one blues album on the Billboard charts.
Billboard magazine called Kingfish a "blues prodigy." No Depression magazine said the album was amazing. Kingfish was also chosen as a "Favorite Blues Album" by AllMusic. The album was nominated for a Grammy Award in 2020.
NPR Music let people listen to Kingfish a week before it was released. They said his guitar playing was "astounding."
In May 2020, Kingfish won five Blues Music Awards. This included 'Album of the Year' for Kingfish. Two months later, he released a new song called "Rock & Roll." He changed the song to honor his mother, Princess Pride, who had passed away.
His Second Album: 662
Kingfish released his second album, 662, in July 2021. The title "662" is the area code for Clarksdale, Mississippi. Kingfish said it represents the whole north Mississippi Delta region.
On April 3, 2022, Kingfish won a Grammy Award for 662. This was for the Best Contemporary Blues Album. In September 2022, Fender released a special Kingfish Telecaster guitar.
Kingfish also opened for the Rolling Stones in London in 2022. In 2023, he was named the Contemporary Blues Male Artist of the Year at the Blues Music Awards.
In October 2024, Kingfish announced he was starting his own record label called Red Zero Records. His third album will be the first project released on this new label in 2025. Kingfish is the CEO of the label.
