Jamar Rolando McNaughton (born on October 10, 1992), known as Chronixx, is a talented reggae artist from Jamaica. His stage name, Chronixx, came from "Little Chronicle," a nickname he got because his father was also a singer named "Chronicle." Chronixx and his music are part of a movement called the "Reggae Revival." This movement includes other reggae artists like Jah9, Protoje, and Jesse Royal. Chronixx's songs often talk about peace, love, and staying strong through challenges.

Early Life and Music Beginnings

Jamar McNaughton started writing songs very early. His first song, "Rice Grain," was written when he was only 5 years old! He went to St Catherine High School in Spanish Town, Jamaica.

Chronixx began his music career at age 11. He recorded a gospel song, though it was never released. He also sang backup for other artists, like Lutan Fyah. By age 14, he was already producing music, creating rhythms for artists such as Konshens and Popcaan. In 2009, after a sad family event, he started working closely with Romaine 'Teflon' Arnett from Zincfence Records.

Chronixx's Music Journey

Chronixx became very popular in 2012. His songs were played a lot on the radio in Jamaica. He performed at big music festivals like Reggae Sumfest. He even had a special show in Kingston that was attended by famous sprinter Usain Bolt. He also worked with the group Major Lazer on their mixtape Start a Fire.

Rising to Fame in 2013

In 2013, Chronixx had big hits with songs like "Smile Jamaica" and "Here Comes Trouble." He toured the United Kingdom and the United States with his band, the Zincfence Redemption Band. In March 2013, he visited Kenya as a Peace Ambassador. He performed at a concert in Nairobi to promote peace during their elections. He returned to Reggae Sumfest in 2013, performing for over 10,000 fans.

Dread & Terrible EP Success

Chronixx released his EP (Extended Play album) called Dread & Terrible on April 1, 2014. This EP quickly became a huge success! It reached the top of the Billboard Top Reggae Albums charts. After he performed on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon and had a concert in Central Park, his EP became even more popular. It stayed in the top 10 of the Top Reggae Albums chart for 42 weeks in a row!

In February 2014, Chronixx was featured on the song "Who Knows" by Protoje. This song was later recognized as a Silver-certified hit in 2022.
