Jesús Gómez Cos (born 26 October 1968), known as Chuchi Cos, is a Spanish football manager and former player. He played as a forward during his career. After retiring as a player, he became a football manager, leading several teams in Spain.

Chuchi Cos: A Football Player

Chuchi Cos started his football journey in Maliaño, a town in Cantabria, Spain. He began playing for local teams and worked his way up through different leagues.

Early Playing Days

Cos started his career in 1988 with Gimnástica de Torrelavega. This team played in the Tercera División, which is one of the lower professional football leagues in Spain. He helped his team win their group in the 1989–90 season. This was a great start to his career.

After this success, he moved to Laredo, another team in the same division. He continued to gain experience and improve his skills as a forward.

Moving Up the Leagues

In 1992, Chuchi Cos took a big step up in his career. He joined Barakaldo, a team in the Segunda División B. This league is a higher level of professional football in Spain. In his first season with Barakaldo, he scored 16 goals in 34 matches. This showed he was a talented goal-scorer.

He then played for several other teams in the Segunda División B. These included Xerez, Numancia, and Pontevedra. He spent two seasons with Xerez and two with Pontevedra, scoring important goals for each club.

Later Playing Career

In 1998, Cos joined Noja, a team that had just been promoted to the Segunda División B. Although Noja was relegated back to the Tercera División after one season, Cos stayed with the club. He helped them win their Tercera División group again in the 1999–2000 season.

His last playing season was with Tropezón in the Segunda División B. After that season, Tropezón was relegated, and Chuchi Cos decided to retire from playing football in 2001. He was 32 years old when he stopped playing professionally.

Chuchi Cos: A Football Manager

After ending his playing career, Chuchi Cos quickly moved into coaching. He became a football manager, guiding teams from the sidelines.

First Coaching Roles

Cos began his coaching career at Palamós in 2002. This team had just been promoted to the Segunda División B. He managed them for part of the 2002–03 season.

During this time, a businessman named Dmitry Piterman bought a share in La Liga club Racing Santander. La Liga is the top football league in Spain. Piterman decided to bring Chuchi Cos to Racing Santander as their new coach in January 2003. Cos helped Racing Santander avoid being relegated from La Liga that season.

Managing Deportivo Alavés

In 2004, Dmitry Piterman bought a large share in Deportivo Alavés, a team in the Segunda División. This is the second-highest league in Spain. Piterman once again appointed Chuchi Cos as the manager.

Cos had a very successful first season with Alavés. He guided the team to promotion to La Liga in the 2004–05 season. This was a big achievement for both him and the club.

He continued as manager for the first part of the 2005–06 La Liga season. In January 2006, Piterman changed Cos's role to director of football. This meant Cos would help manage the club's overall football strategy. However, he was reappointed as manager of Alavés in September 2006. He managed the team for several months before leaving in January 2007.
