The Church of St Bartholomew is an old church located in Aldsworth, a village in the Cotswold District of Gloucestershire, England. It belongs to the Church of England. This church was built a very long time ago, in the late 1100s. It is considered a very important historical building and is officially listed as a Grade I listed building. This means it has special historical or architectural value.

History of the Church
Building Through the Centuries
The Church of St Bartholomew was first built in the late 12th century, which means it's over 800 years old! Over time, parts of the church were changed and rebuilt. For example, in the 15th century, the north aisle (a side part of the church) was rebuilt.
Later, in the 19th century, more changes were made. This included a big project called a Victorian restoration. During this time, the chancel (the area around the altar) and the vestry (a room where clergy prepare) were updated.
Who Owned the Church?
For many years, until 1539, the church was connected to Gloucester Abbey. After that, it was given to Osney Abbey. However, during a time known as the Dissolution of the monasteries, many abbeys were closed down. When Osney Abbey closed, St Bartholomew's Church became part of Christ Church, Oxford, which is a famous college at Oxford University.
Today, the church is part of a group of churches called the Windrush benefice. This means it shares a priest and resources with other nearby churches.
Church Design and Features
What the Church Looks Like
The Church of St Bartholomew is made of stone and has a roof covered with slate tiles. It has several main parts:
- The nave is the main area where people sit.
- There is a north aisle, which is a passage along the side of the nave.
- A south porch provides an entrance.
- The chancel, where the altar is, has three sections called bays.
- There is also a vestry.
- At the west end of the church, there is a tall tower with a pointed top called a spire. The tower is supported by strong walls called buttresses.
Inside the Church
The tower of the church holds three bells. These bells are set up to ring together as a chime. Most of the furniture and decorations inside the church are from the 19th century, when the church was restored. However, there is one special feature that is much older: a stained glass window from the 15th century. This window still shows a design of a Tudor rose, which was a famous symbol of the Tudor royal family in England.
