Ciara Renée Harper (born October 19, 1990) is an American actress and musician. She is well-known for her roles in popular Broadway musicals. These include playing The Witch in Big Fish, the Leading Player in Pippin, Jenna in Waitress, and Elsa in Frozen.
Ciara Renée also played Esmeralda in The Hunchback of Notre Dame at the Paper Mill Playhouse and La Jolla Playhouse. On television, she starred as Kendra Saunders / Hawkgirl in the CW series DC's Legends of Tomorrow. This show is a spin-off from Arrow and The Flash. She has a vocal range known as a mezzo-soprano.

Early Life and Training
Ciara Renée was born and grew up in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania. She went to Central Dauphin East High School. In 2013, she graduated from Baldwin Wallace University with a degree in Music Theatre.
Career Highlights
In September 2013, Ciara Renée made her first appearance on Broadway. She played The Witch in the musical Big Fish at the Neil Simon Theatre. The next year, in February, she joined the musical Pippin. She took over the role of the Leading Player.
In 2014, Renée also appeared as a guest star on the TV show Law & Order: SVU. In 2015, she played Esmeralda in a musical version of The Hunchback of Notre Dame. This musical was based on the famous Victor Hugo novel and the Disney animated film. Critics praised her performance.
Becoming Hawkgirl
In March 2015, it was announced that Ciara Renée would play Kendra Saunders / Hawkgirl in a new TV series. This show was DC's Legends of Tomorrow, part of The CW's superhero universe. She joined other actors like Caity Lotz and Brandon Routh. Renée first appeared as Kendra Saunders in the final episode of The Flash season one in May 2015.
Other Stage Roles
In 2016, Renée performed in the musical Tick, Tick... Boom! Off-Broadway. She played the character Susan. In the summer of 2017, she took on the role of Mary Magdalene in the musical Jesus Christ Superstar at The Muny in St. Louis.
On January 15, 2020, it was announced that Renée would return to Broadway. She was set to play Elsa in Frozen starting February 18. However, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, all Broadway theaters closed in March 2020. Disney later announced that Frozen would not reopen after the lockdown.
In November 2021, Renée joined the Broadway musical Waitress. She replaced country singer Jennifer Nettles as the character Jenna.
