In 2020, about 198 people lived in Cibola. The name Cibola comes from an old legend. It is named after a famous "city of gold."

Where is Cibola Located?
Cibola is in the southwestern part of La Paz County. It sits in the Cibola Valley. The community is on the east side of the Colorado River. Across the river to the west is the state of California.
You can cross the river using River Road. This road also leads south to Cibola Park. To the north, Neighbors Boulevard goes to Ripley, California. The southern part of Cibola is home to the Cibola National Wildlife Refuge. This refuge is a protected area for animals.

Cibola covers an area of about 52.3 square kilometers (20.2 square miles). Most of this area is land. About 1.7 square kilometers (0.67 square miles) is water, mostly from the Colorado River.
