Ciney (pronounced "see-nay") is a cool city and a municipality in Wallonia, a region in Belgium. It's located in the province of Namur.
As of 2018, about 16,439 people lived in Ciney. The city covers an area of 147.56 square kilometers. This means about 111 people live in each square kilometer.

The municipality of Ciney is made up of several smaller areas called districts. These districts include Achêne, Braibant, Chevetogne, Ciney (the main town), Conneux, Leignon, Pessoux, Serinchamps, and Sovet. There are also a few villages, like Chapois.

Long ago, Ciney was sometimes called Chiney in English. The city faced a big challenge on July 14, 2010, when a strong storm hit. The bell tower, which is a famous symbol of Ciney and even appears on its beer labels, fell onto the church. Luckily, no one was hurt during the storm. It took more than a year to rebuild the bell tower, and it cost a lot of money.
