Ciril Bergles (born July 18, 1934 – died August 25, 2013) was a famous writer from Slovenia. He was a poet, an essayist, and a translator. This means he wrote his own poems and essays. He also changed poems from other languages into Slovene.

He was especially known for translating poems from Spanish and South American writers. Thanks to him, many Slovene readers could enjoy these amazing works.

Who Was Ciril Bergles?

Ciril Bergles was born in a small town called Repče, near Ljubljana, in 1934. When he grew up, he went to the University of Ljubljana. There, he studied the Slovene and English languages.

After finishing his studies, he became a secondary school teacher. He loved to write and started sharing his poems in 1984. His first book of poems was called Na poti v tišino, which means 'On the Path to Silence'.

Ciril Bergles was a very talented writer. In 2004, he won a special prize called the Jenko Award. This award was given to him for his poetry book titled Moj dnevnik priča. This name means 'My Diary Speaks'. Winning this award was a big honor for his writing.
