City Montessori School (CMS) is a big private school in Lucknow, India. It teaches boys and girls from pre-school up to Grade 12.
This school is known as the world's largest school by the Guinness World Records. In 2023, it had 61,345 students!
In 2014, CMS became a special partner with the United Nations. This means it works with the UN on important projects.

How the School Started
Dr. Jagdish Gandhi and his wife, Dr. Bharti Gandhi, started City Montessori School in 1959. They began with only 5 children in a room at their home. This first school is now called the Station Road Branch.
Students at CMS are part of one of four "houses." These houses are named Love, Hope, Unity, and Peace. Each house has its own color: Green, Red, Yellow, and Blue.
CMS has won special awards for its work. In 2002, it received the UNESCO Prize for Peace Education. The school also got the 'Hope of Humanity' Award from the 14th Dalai Lama, a famous spiritual leader.

Model United Nations
The school organizes its own Model United Nations event, called CMSMUN. In this event, students pretend to be delegates from different countries. They discuss global issues, just like real diplomats at the United Nations.

Students from CMS have spoken at important international meetings. They have shared their ideas with judges from around the world.

SAT Test Center
In 2013, CMS became a center for the Scholastic Aptitude Test (SAT). The SAT is a major test that students take to get into universities in the United States.
Promoting Peace and Friendship
The school has worked to promote peace during difficult times. For example, it started a pen pal project for children in India and Pakistan. This project aimed to build friendship between kids from both countries.
Student Life
In 2017, the school changed its uniform after 33 years. They also set up a helpline for parents to check uniform prices.
CMS students have performed yoga at the United Nations in New York. This was to celebrate International Day of Yoga. The school also hosts an International Children's Film Festival.
An international music concert was held at CMS with musicians from 17 countries. Many students from CMS have also achieved high scores in the CISCE exams.
