The Claro River is an important river in Chile. It flows through the Maule Region, which is in the central part of the country. This river is known for its beautiful journey from the mountains to a larger river.

Where the Claro River Starts

The Claro River begins high up in the Andes mountains. Its source is found within the Radal Siete Tazas National Park. This park is famous for its stunning waterfalls and natural pools.

The River's Journey

From the Andes, the Claro River flows towards the northwest. It passes by the city of Molina. After Molina, the river changes direction. It then flows southwest.

The river also goes under the Panamericana Highway. This is a very long road that runs through much of Chile. The Claro River continues its path close to the city of Talca. Finally, it empties its waters into the larger Maule River. Along this last part of its journey, the Claro River is joined by the Lircay River, which is one of its tributaries.

Nature Around the River

The Claro River is home to different kinds of plants and animals. One plant that lives in the river is called Limnobium laevigatum. This is an invasive plant species. It means it is not originally from this area and can sometimes grow very quickly.
