Cleaver Lake is a beautiful lake located in the Timiskaming District of Northeastern Ontario, Canada. It is part of an area called the "Unorganized West Part," which means it's a rural area without a local town government. The lake is about 800 meters (about half a mile) long and 150 meters (about 500 feet) wide.

Where is Cleaver Lake?

Cleaver Lake sits at an elevation of 329 meters (about 1,079 feet) above sea level. It is found in a quiet, natural setting. The lake is located about 16 kilometers (10 miles) northwest of a community called Gowganda. It is also about 21.7 kilometers (13.5 miles) southwest of another place called Matachewan.

How Water Flows In and Out

Water constantly moves through lakes and rivers. For Cleaver Lake, the main source of water flowing in is called Cleaver Creek. This same creek is also the main way water flows out of the lake.

Once Cleaver Creek leaves Cleaver Lake, it flows into the West Montreal River. The West Montreal River is a smaller river that joins a larger one called the Montreal River. All these rivers are connected and eventually become part of the huge Ottawa River system. This entire network of connected rivers and lakes is known as a drainage basin.
