In 2006, the local city government of Karachi decided to take over the islands. They wanted to make the islands a special part of their plans to improve and modernize the city.
The Amazing Port Fountain
As part of the city's plans, a spectacular water fountain was built at the base of the northernmost island. This fountain is called the Port Fountain. It is incredibly powerful and can shoot water up to 620 feet (about 189 meters) into the air! This makes it the second-tallest fountain in the entire world.
