Clinton is a small town in Clinton County, New York, United States. It's located in the northwestern part of the county. In 2010, about 737 people lived there. The town is also northwest of a larger city called Plattsburgh.

History of Clinton
People started living in the Clinton area a long time ago, even before the year 1820. This early settlement was near a community called Frontier. The town of Clinton officially became its own separate town in 1845. Before that, it was part of another town known as Ellenburg.
Geography of Clinton
Clinton is a pretty big town in terms of land area. It covers about 173.8 square kilometers (which is about 67 square miles). Most of this area is land, with only a tiny bit (about 0.1 square kilometers) being water.
Location and Borders
The northern edge of Clinton is the border between Canada and the United States. On the Canadian side, it touches the province of Quebec. The western edge of the town borders Franklin County and the town of Chateaugay.
Roads and Highways
Two important roads run through Clinton. U.S. Route 11 goes from east to west. It crosses New York State Route 189, which runs north and south. This intersection is located just south of a place called Churubusco.
