This community is found along the Clinton River. It's near Walton Boulevard, between Clintonville Road and Sashabaw Road. Clintonville was built close to two lakes: Wormer Lake (about 27.5 acres) and Schoolhouse Lake (about 37 acres).

History of Clintonville
Clintonville was first settled in 1830 by a person named Samuel C. Munson. In that same year, Munson built two important mills in Clintonville. These were a gristmill (for grinding grain) and a saw mill (for cutting wood). These mills were located on Pond Lake, which is now known as Lake Oakland. This spot is just north of where the Clinton River meets Walton Boulevard today.
The community of Clintonville was officially mapped out, or "platted," in 1847. This means its streets and land lots were formally planned.

The first school in Clintonville was called Clintonville School No. 7. It was built right on the banks of Schoolhouse Lake. Today, this old school building can still be seen at 3101 Walton Boulevard in Waterford, Michigan, near Clintonville Road.
