The Cobb County Parks, Recreation and Cultural Affairs Department is a special part of the Cobb County government in Georgia. Its main job is to create and take care of fun places for everyone. This includes parks, places for sports and activities, and programs that celebrate art and culture. They help make sure there are plenty of ways for people to play, learn, and enjoy their free time in Cobb County.

Parks in Cobb County

Cobb County has many parks spread across different areas. These parks offer lots of ways to have fun outdoors. You can find places for picnics, playgrounds for kids, and fields for many sports like baseball, soccer, and football. Many parks also have tennis courts and walking trails.

Eastern District Parks

  • Bells Ferry Park is located on Bells Ferry Road. It has picnic areas, playgrounds, tennis courts, and softball fields. You'll also find concession buildings and batting cages here.
  • East Cobb Park is on Roswell Road. This park is one of the newer ones, opening in 2003. It has a picnic pavilion and an amphitheater for performances.
  • Fullers Park is very close to East Cobb Park. It offers picnic spots, a playground, tennis courts, and several baseball and football fields. There's also the Fullers Recreation Center here.
  • Harrison Park is a large park near Lassiter High School. It features picnic areas, playgrounds, baseball fields, and batting cages. The Harrison Tennis Center is right next door.
  • Mount Bethel Park is at the intersection of Lower Roswell Rd and Johnson Ferry Rd. This park has a baseball field, batting cages, and a concession building.
  • Noonday Creek Park is along the Noonday Creek. It's a big park with many soccer and football fields, a picnic pavilion, a playground, and even a BMX track.
  • Sandy Plains Park is located on Sandy Plains Road. It has a playground, softball fields, batting cages, and a concession building.
  • Sewell Park is on Lower Roswell Road. Here you can find picnic areas, a playground, baseball fields, tennis courts, and an outdoor swimming pool. There's also a walking trail.
  • Shaw Park is on Canton Road. It has baseball fields, tennis courts, and pickleball courts. You'll also find picnic pavilions, playgrounds, and the Northeast Cobb Community Center.
  • Sweat Mountain Park is a smaller park near Sweat Mountain. It has baseball fields, tennis courts, a playground, and a dog park for your furry friends.
  • Terrell Mill Park is on Terrell Mill Road. It offers picnic pavilions, a playground, softball fields, and a soccer field. The Terrell Mill Tennis Center is also part of this park.

Central District Parks

  • Fair Oaks Park is a large park in the Fair Oaks area. It has fields for baseball, soccer, and softball, plus a playground and picnic pavilions. The Fair Oaks Tennis Center and Recreation Center are also here.
  • Heritage Park is off Fontaine Rd. This park is known for its unpaved hiking trails and a boardwalk. It also has an outdoor education building and historic sites.
  • Hurt Road Park is near Hicks Rd and Hurt Rd. It features softball fields, batting cages, tennis courts, a basketball court, and a walking trail.
  • Lions Park is close to Veterans Memorial Hwy. You'll find baseball fields and concession buildings here. The South Cobb Community Center is also located at this park.
  • Milford Park is at the intersection of Smyrna Powder Springs Rd and Hicks Rd. It has baseball and football fields, a concession building, and playgrounds.
  • Nickajack Park is built along Nickajack Creek. It offers softball, baseball, and football fields, tennis courts, a playground, and picnic pavilions.
  • Rhyne Park borders King Springs Road. It has playgrounds, picnic pavilions, softball fields, tennis courts, and batting cages.
  • Thompson Park is a wooded area with a lake. It also includes the Thompson Community Center.
  • Wallace Park is a very large park in Mableton. It has picnic pavilions, a playground, tennis courts, and fields for softball, baseball, and football.

Western District Parks

  • Big Shanty Park is next to Kennesaw Mountain High School. It has baseball fields, soccer fields, and tennis courts.
  • Kennworth Park is a very large park with softball fields, a picnic pavilion, and batting cages. It also has a senior center and a playground. The Kennworth Tennis Center is nearby.
  • Lost Mountain Park is a very large park off Dallas Highway. It has many softball, baseball, and football/soccer fields. You'll also find a recreation center, playgrounds, picnic pavilions, and walking tracks. There are even two fishing ponds! The Lost Mountain Tennis Center is part of this park.
  • Mudcreek Soccer Complex is a smaller park focused on youth soccer. It has several soccer fields, a playground, and a walking track.
  • Clarkdale Park is a small park with softball and baseball fields.
  • Oregon Park has baseball fields, picnic pavilions, a playground, a disc golf course, and tennis courts. It also has batting cages and a walking trail.

Future Parks

Cobb County is always looking to add more green spaces for its residents.

Hyde Farm

Hyde Farm is a future park located next to the Chattahoochee River National Recreation Area. This farm will be bought and managed by both Cobb County and the National Park Service. The farm buildings and land will continue to operate as a working farm, giving visitors a unique experience.

Recreation Centers

Cobb County offers many facilities for sports and recreation.

Swimming Pools

You can find swimming pools that are open all year round indoors, and outdoor pools that are open during the summer months.

Tennis Facilities

The department manages six main tennis centers, with a total of 122 tennis courts across Cobb County parks.

  • Fair Oaks Tennis Center was the first tennis center in Cobb County. It has 12 hard courts and a pro-shop.
  • Harrison Tennis Center is the largest tennis facility in Cobb. It offers 16 hard courts and 6 mini-courts.
  • Kennworth Tennis Center has 8 hard courts and a pro-shop.
  • Lost Mountain Tennis Center is the newest tennis center with 12 hard courts and a pro-shop.
  • Sweetwater Tennis Center has 8 hard courts.
  • Terrell Mill Tennis Center has 8 hard courts and a pro-shop.

Many other county parks also have tennis courts available for use.
