Cochrane Lake is a small community called a hamlet in southern Alberta, Canada. It is managed by Rocky View County. A smaller part of this hamlet is also known as the Cochrane Lake Subdivision. This is a special area recognized by Statistics Canada.
Cochrane Lake is about 45 kilometers (23 miles) northwest of Calgary. It is also very close to the town of Cochrane, just 1.6 kilometers (1 mile) north. You can find it on the west side of Highway 22.

Why is it Called Cochrane Lake?
Cochrane Lake got its name from a person named Senator Matthew Henry Cochrane. In 1881, he started a big ranch called the Cochrane Ranche. This ranch was very important for producing beef in the area. Later, it became known as the British-American Ranche.
