Cole Walliser's Early Life and Career Beginnings
Cole Walliser was born in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada. He grew up in Richmond, British Columbia. He studied Psychology at the University of British Columbia.
Cole became interested in making films when he was 14 years old. He started by filming skateboarding videos. He even made a short film about the first day of high school. This film is still used at Hugh McRoberts High School, where he went. When he was 24, Cole decided to become a director. He moved to Los Angeles to follow his dream. He began by filming his friends who were professional dancers. He did this for free to gain experience.
Working with Pop Stars and the GlamBOT
In 2008, one of Cole's dancer friends was a choreographer for Miley Cyrus. This friend asked Cole to help with a dance music video. This led him to direct two episodes of a web series called The Miley and Mandy Show. These episodes featured a fun dance battle. It was against another dance crew led by Jon Chu and Adam Sevani.
These music videos became very popular. They were called "the biggest online dance battle in YouTube history." Many famous people appeared in them. The videos even got attention on The Ellen DeGeneres Show. The online dance battle ended with a big performance. This happened at the 2008 Teen Choice Awards. Cole also directed this exciting show.
In 2009, Cole directed the opening video for P!nk's Funhouse Tour. He also made a 30-minute documentary. It was called Life On Tour with P!nk. He directed four of her music videos too. These videos played during her Funhouse Summer Carnival Tour.
In 2010, Cole helped edit two episodes of a dance web series. It was called The Legion of Extraordinary Dancers. Later, Cole worked with Katy Perry. He directed the story videos that played during her California Dreams Tour. He also edited videos from Katy Perry's wedding to Russell Brand. These were used for her special performance at the 53rd Grammy Awards in 2011. Cole also often works with car companies like Mercedes-Benz and Lexus. He helps them make cool promotional videos.
