Early Life and School

Coleen Mary McLoughlin was born in Liverpool, England. Her parents are Tony and Colette McLoughlin. Tony, her father, was a bricklayer and also ran a boxing club. Coleen is the oldest of four children. Her younger sister, Rosie, had a condition called Rett syndrome and sadly passed away in 2013 at the age of 14. Coleen has four boys named Kai, Klay, Kit, and Cass.

Coleen Rooney went to St John Bosco Arts College. She did very well in school, earning 10 GCSEs. One of her top grades was an A* in Performing Arts.

Her Career in Media

Coleen Rooney has had a busy career in the media. She started by writing a column for the celebrity magazine Closer. Her column was called "Welcome to My World." In 2008, she moved to OK! magazine, where she wrote a weekly column about fashion and news.

Coleen also started working in television. In May 2006, she helped Sir Trevor McDonald on his show Tonight with Trevor McDonald. They made a program about Rett syndrome, the same condition her younger sister had. Later, Coleen created her own TV series for ITV called Coleen's Real Women. In this show, she looked for everyday women to be in advertising campaigns instead of professional models. She was known as "the nation's favourite girl next door" during this time.

In December 2005, Coleen released an exercise DVD called Coleen McLoughlin's Brand New Body Workout. It became a very popular seller in the United Kingdom. She also worked with the clothing brand George at Asda. In June 2010, she made a deal with the company Littlewoods.

Coleen has also written several books. Her autobiography, Welcome to My World, came out in March 2007. The next year, she released Coleen's Real Style. From 2008 to 2010, she published a series of four books called Coleen Style Queen.

More recently, in October 2023, a documentary about a famous court case called Vardy v Rooney was released on Disney+. This show shared Coleen's side of the story and the events that led up to a social media post she made. In November 2024, Coleen appeared as a contestant on the TV show I'm a Celebrity...Get Me Out of Here!. She spent 22 days in the jungle and finished in second place.

Her Personal Life

Marriage and Family

Coleen met her husband, Wayne Rooney, when she was 12 years old. They grew up in the same area of Liverpool called Croxteth. They started dating when they were 16, after they finished secondary school. Wayne's mother even worked as a cleaner at St John Bosco Arts College, the school Coleen attended.

Coleen and Wayne got married in Portofino, Italy, on 12 June 2008. A British magazine reportedly paid them a large amount of money for exclusive pictures and information about their wedding. After they married, they moved into a new home. They later lived in Prestbury, Cheshire, before moving to the United States for Wayne Rooney’s football career.

The Rooneys have four sons. Their children were born in 2009, 2013, 2016, and 2018. Coleen is also a supporter of the Alder Hey Children's Charity, which is based in Liverpool.

Public Dispute with Rebekah Vardy

On 9 October 2019, Coleen Rooney made a Twitter post that became very famous. She explained that private stories from her Instagram account were being shared with The Sun newspaper. To find out who was leaking the stories, she set a trap. She limited who could see her private posts until only one account could view them. She then revealed that this account belonged to Rebekah Vardy, suggesting Vardy was responsible. This event was quickly nicknamed "Wagatha Christie" by the media, combining the term for footballers' wives ("WAG") with the name of mystery writer Agatha Christie.

Rebekah Vardy responded on her own Twitter account, saying she did not leak the stories and that her Instagram account might have been hacked. In June 2020, news came out that Vardy was taking Rooney to court for defamation, which means harming someone's reputation.

In July 2022, the judge in the case, Mrs Justice Steyn, made a decision. She ruled that Coleen Rooney's accusation was "substantially true." This meant that Coleen had enough evidence to support her claim.
