Early Life and Education

Career Beginnings
To earn money for college, Camp had a very unusual job. She trained macaws, a type of parrot, at a theme park called Busch Gardens. She performed in shows with the birds for large crowds, doing six shows a day, six days a week.
A talent agent saw a TV special about her and her birds. This led to her first jobs in commercials for Gallo wine and Touch of Sweden hand lotion. Soon after, she began getting small roles in popular TV shows like Marcus Welby, M.D., Happy Days, and Love, American Style.
Movie Career
Camp's first movie roles were small parts in films like Funny Lady (1975) with Barbra Streisand and Smile (1975). She also appeared in the Bruce Lee movie Game of Death (1978). She played the girlfriend of Bruce Lee's character.
In 1979, she had a role in the famous movie Apocalypse Now. Most of her scenes were not in the first version of the movie, but more of her performance was added in a later version called Apocalypse Now Redux.
Throughout the 1980s, Camp acted in many popular comedies. She was in They All Laughed (1981), Valley Girl (1983), and played the memorable role of Yvette the maid in Clue (1985). She also played a police officer in two Police Academy movies.
Later Work
Camp has continued to act in both big studio movies and smaller independent films. In 1995, she played a police officer in Die Hard with a Vengeance. In 1999, she played the mother of Reese Witherspoon's character in the movie Election.
In 2013, she had a supporting role in the award-winning film American Hustle. She has also worked as a producer, helping to create movies and even a Broadway play called Love Letters. In 2018, she appeared in the family-friendly fantasy film The House with a Clock in Its Walls.
