History of Collins
The area where Collins is located has had a post office since 1890. A post office helps people send and receive mail.
In 1894, the Georgia General Assembly officially made Collins a town. This means it became a recognized place with its own local government. Later, in 1905, it became a city. The community was named after Perry Collins, who was one of the first people to settle there.
