Colton is a small community in Clackamas County, Oregon, in the United States. It's not a city with its own government, but a close-knit place where people live and work. You can find Colton on Oregon Route 211, nestled between the towns of Estacada and Molalla.
Colton got its name around 1892. Two people, Joshua Gorbett and a man named Cole, both wanted to name the community after the other! The Post Office Department decided to call it "Colton." This was because "Gorbett" sounded too much like "Corbett", which was another place in Oregon. The Colton post office opened in the same year.
For a long time, many people from Sweden settled in Colton. It was also a busy place for cutting down trees and processing wood. Today, the main jobs in Colton involve growing plants and farming Christmas trees.
