The Comunità montana Walser Alta Valle del Lys is a special group of four towns, called comuni, in the Valle d'Aosta region of Italy. Its name means "Walser Upper Lys Valley mountain community." In French, it's called Communauté de montagne Walser Haute Vallée du Lys, and in German, Walser Berggemeinschaft Oberlystal.
This community gets its name from the Walser people. They live in the upper Lys Valley, also known as the Gressoney valley. The Walser people originally came from the Swiss area of Valais. They speak a special German dialect.

Where is the Walser Mountain Community Located?
This mountain community is found in the eastern part of Valle d'Aosta. It is located east of Aosta, which is the main city of the region. The towns in the community are in a small valley called the Lys Valley or Gressoney valley. The Lys river flows through this beautiful valley.
The Comunità montana Walser Alta Valle del Lys covers an area of about 203 square kilometers (78 square miles). Around 2,025 people live here. This means there are about 10 people for every square kilometer.
