Condingup is a small town and a surrounding area, also known as a locality, in Western Australia. It is part of the Goldfields–Esperance region. The town is located within the Shire of Esperance local government area. It is about 782 kilometers (486 miles) southeast of Perth, the state capital.
A small part of Condingup is on the coast, specifically at Duke of Orleans Bay. This bay is next to the Southern Ocean. The main town area is found where Fisheries Road and Orleans Bay Road meet. Condingup is very close to Cape Le Grand National Park in the south. There is also a place called Coolinup Nature Reserve in the west of Condingup. Another small town, Wharton, is also located in the southern part of Condingup, right on the shore of Duke of Orleans Bay.

History of Condingup
Condingup officially became a town on May 3, 1963. Its name is believed to come from an Aboriginal word, Kunjinup. This word refers to a type of wildflower that grows in the local area.
In the past, from the 1950s to the 1970s, some famous people owned land in the Condingup area. One of these was Art Linkletter, a well-known television host. He helped the town set up its first school, a school bus service, and even a shop. This shows how people worked together to build the community.

The main ways people make a living in Condingup are through farming. Local industries include raising cattle and sheep. Farmers also grow grain. These activities are important for the economy of the area.
Nature and Environment
The Coolinup Nature Reserve is a special protected area in Condingup. It was officially recognized on December 18, 1964. The reserve covers an area of about 2.16 square kilometers (0.83 square miles). It is part of the Esperance Plains bioregion. A bioregion is a large area of land or water that has similar climate, landforms, and types of plants and animals. Nature reserves help protect the unique plants and animals of the region.
