Connor Dewar (born June 26, 1999) is a Canadian professional ice hockey player. He plays as a centre for the Pittsburgh Penguins in the National Hockey League (NHL). Before joining the Penguins, he played for the Minnesota Wild and the Toronto Maple Leafs.

Growing Up and Early Hockey
Connor Dewar was born on June 26, 1999, in The Pas, Manitoba, Canada. His parents are Kim and Jade. Connor has Métis heritage, which means he is part of a group of Indigenous people in Canada.
When he was young, Connor learned to skate on a hockey rink his dad built in their backyard. Later, he moved to Dauphin, Manitoba with his mom. There, he played for the Parkland Rangers bantam team. He stayed in Dauphin until he was 15, playing for the Rangers midget AAA team.
Joining the WHL
Because of his strong play, Connor was chosen by the Everett Silvertips team. This happened in the 2014 WHL Bantam Draft. The WHL, or Western Hockey League, is a major junior hockey league in Canada and the United States.
Playing in Junior Hockey
Connor Dewar officially joined the Everett Silvertips on September 1, 2015. He was 16 years old when he started playing for them in the 2015–16 season.
First Season Success
In his very first game, Connor scored his first WHL goal. This goal helped his team win 2–0 against the Prince George Cougars. He played in every regular-season game that year, all 72 of them. He also played in all nine playoff games. For his hard work, he won the "Iron Man Award" and was named "Rookie of the Year." He finished his first season with 11 goals and seven assists. He was the first Silvertips rookie in a long time to score more than 10 goals.
Developing His Skills
After his great rookie year, Connor continued to play for the Silvertips. In his second season, he scored even more goals and assists. He set new personal bests in points. After this season, the Toronto Maple Leafs invited him to their training camp. This was a big chance for him to show his skills to an NHL team.
Connor returned to the Silvertips for his third season. He was named an alternate captain, which means he was a leader on the team. He kept improving, setting new career highs in points, assists, and goals. Because of his strong performance, the NHL Central Scouting Bureau ranked him as one of the top young players.
Drafted by the NHL
In the 2018 NHL Entry Draft, Connor Dewar was picked 92nd overall by the Minnesota Wild. This was an exciting moment, as it meant an NHL team saw his potential.
Before the 2018–19 season, Connor was named the captain of the Everett Silvertips. This was a big honor, making him the 16th captain in the team's history. He also went to the Minnesota Wild's training camp again. He later returned to play for the Silvertips.
Connor had a very strong fourth year with the Silvertips. He led the team with 73 points before he got an upper body injury. He finished the season with 81 points, which included 29 points scored during power plays. His 81 points placed him seventh in Silvertips single-season history. For his excellent play, Connor was named to the WHL Western Conference First All-Star Team.
Professional Hockey Career
Connor Dewar signed his first professional contract with the Minnesota Wild on March 5, 2019. This was a three-year deal. After signing, he joined the Iowa Wild, which is Minnesota's team in the American Hockey League (AHL).
Starting in the AHL
Connor scored his first professional goal and assist on November 17, 2019, in a game against the Chicago Wolves. In his first AHL season, he played 52 games and earned 19 points, with six goals and 13 assists.
Making it to the NHL
Connor Dewar played his first NHL game on October 28, 2021, for the Minnesota Wild. It was a game against the Seattle Kraken. He got his first NHL point, an assist, on January 6, 2022, in a win against the Boston Bruins. Just 18 days later, he scored his first NHL goal in a big 8–2 win over the Montreal Canadiens.
Moving to New Teams
On March 8, 2024, the Minnesota Wild traded Connor Dewar to the Toronto Maple Leafs. In return, the Wild received another player and a draft pick. Connor scored his first goal for the Maple Leafs on March 28, 2024, against the Washington Capitals.
During the 2024–25 season, Connor started on the injured list with the Maple Leafs. He returned to play in November. He recorded three assists in 31 games for the Maple Leafs. On March 7, 2025, he was traded again. This time, the Maple Leafs sent him and another player to the Pittsburgh Penguins. In exchange, the Maple Leafs received a draft pick for 2025. Connor scored his first goal for the Penguins on March 13, 2025, against the St. Louis Blues.
