Team History and Success
The city of Everett wanted a hockey team and planned to build a new arena. In 2001, the WHL agreed to let Everett have a new team. The owner of the Seattle Thunderbirds decided to sell his team to take over this new club. The new arena, the Everett Events Centre, was ready for the team's first season. It could seat 8,200 fans. In 2003, Kevin Constantine, a former National Hockey League coach, became the team's first head coach.
The Silvertips started playing in the 2003–04 season. They quickly became the most successful new team in WHL history. By January, they had won 19 games, breaking the old record for a new team. They finished their first season with 35 wins. They also won their division. In the playoffs, the Silvertips made it all the way to the league final. They beat the Kelowna Rockets, who were the champions at the time. In the final series, they played against the Medicine Hat Tigers. The Silvertips lost all four games and did not win the championship. Even so, they set new records for a new team in many areas. Coach Constantine was named the league's coach of the year.
Three seasons later, in 2006–07, the Silvertips had their best regular season ever. They won 54 games and earned 111 points. This won them the Scotty Munro Memorial Trophy for the best record in the league. However, they lost in the second round of the playoffs that year. Zach Hamill, who was the team's first player picked in the bantam draft, led the WHL in scoring that season.
Fans really supported the team because of their success. The Silvertips became known for having large crowds at their games. For over ten years, they were among the top teams in the league for attendance.

Everett continued to be a team that always made the playoffs. In 2017–18, they made it to the league championship series again. This time, they were led by goalie Carter Hart and coach Dennis Williams. They had 47 wins, their best season since 2007. In the finals, they played the Swift Current Broncos. The Silvertips lost the series in six games. Carter Hart had an amazing season. He was named the league's best player and best goalie for the third year in a row. The team is known for having great goalies. After Hart moved on to play professionally, Dustin Wolf was named top goalie two years in a row.
Coach Williams left the Silvertips after the 2024 playoffs.
Team Rivals
The Silvertips have a strong rivalry with the Seattle Thunderbirds. The two teams are close by and often play each other in the playoffs. From 2016 to 2018, the team that won the playoff series between them went on to the championship series.
Team Name and Logos
The team chose the name "Silvertips" after the grizzly bears found in the Pacific Northwest. Their team colors are green and silver. Before their first season, they introduced a bear mascot named Lincoln. He was named after the aircraft carrier USS Abraham Lincoln, which was at Naval Station Everett at the time.
