Conrad Bastien McRae (born January 11, 1971 – died July 10, 2000) was an American professional basketball player. He had a great career playing for teams in Europe, including countries like France, Italy, Greece, and Turkey. He was also chosen by the Washington Bullets in the 1993 NBA draft. He was the 38th pick overall in the second round.

Early Life and High School Basketball
Conrad McRae grew up in New York City. He went to Brooklyn Technical High School. There, he was an amazing basketball player. He even got the nickname "McNasty." This nickname came from playing in the Entertainers Basketball Classic at Harlem's famous Rucker Park.
During his high school years, Conrad was recognized as one of the best players in the city. He was named PSAL High School All-City from 1986 to 1989. In 1989, he was chosen for the McDonald's All-American Team. He also took part in the Junior Olympics.
College Career at Syracuse
After high school, McRae received a scholarship to attend Syracuse University. He played college basketball for the Syracuse Orange team. His coach was Jim Boeheim.
Even though he didn't play a lot of minutes at first, Conrad worked hard. His strong will, athletic skills, and great defense helped him stand out. These qualities led him to be picked in the 1993 NBA draft. The Washington Bullets chose him in the second round. While at Syracuse, Conrad also joined the Phi Beta Sigma fraternity.
Professional Basketball in Europe
Conrad McRae decided to play basketball in Europe. He became a star player for several teams. He played in Turkey, France, Italy, and Greece.
One of his biggest achievements was helping Efes from Istanbul win the FIBA Korać Cup in the 1995–96 season. He also helped Fortitudo Bologna reach the championship finals in the Italian League in 1996–97.
McRae also played briefly in the United States. In 1994, he played for the Fort Wayne Fury in the CBA. He played eight games with the Fury. During those games, he averaged 8.6 points and 7.5 rebounds per game.
In 1999, McRae signed a short contract with the Denver Nuggets. However, the contract ended early after he felt unwell before a game.
Conrad McRae's Passing
In the summer of 2000, Conrad McRae was practicing with the Orlando Magic summer league team. He was doing running drills at the University of California, Irvine. During this practice, he suddenly passed away.
An official examination could not fully determine why he died. However, Conrad had a history of a heart condition called arrhythmia.
