History of Continental
Continental wasn't always called Continental! It was first known as Maurice City. This name was given in 1888 when the village was first planned out on a map. This process of planning a town's layout is called "platting." Just a few months later, the village officially became known as Continental.
Geography of Continental
Continental covers a total area of about 3.16 square kilometers (or 1.22 square miles). Most of this area, about 3.10 square kilometers (1.20 square miles), is land. A small part, about 0.07 square kilometers (0.03 square miles), is water.

Continental's Population in 2010
According to the census from 2010, there were 1,153 people living in Continental. These people made up 486 households, and 320 of these were families.

Education in Continental
Continental Local Schools manages the schools in the area. There is one elementary school and Continental High School. Students in Continental attend these schools.
The village also has a public library. It is a branch of the Putnam County District Library, where you can borrow books and learn new things.
Arts and Culture
Since 1988, the Continental Fall Festival has been a fun annual event. It takes place in downtown Continental and brings the community together.
