What Does It Look Like?
The shell of an adult dark cone snail can be anywhere from 30 to 71 millimeters long. That's about 1.2 to 2.8 inches.
Its main color is usually a light brown. You'll often see thin, close lines of a darker chestnut-brown color on the shell. It might also have one or two lighter bands wrapped around it.
The top part of the shell, called the spire, is raised up and has a sharp tip. This spire is usually a uniform pale brown color. Sometimes, the lines on the shell can look like tiny dots, and some parts of the spire might have small, bead-like bumps.
