Terrance Scott (born May 11, 1972), who is better known by his stage name Cool Nutz, is an American rapper, radio host, and business owner. He is also a tour manager and owns his own record label.

He was born and grew up in the Woodlawn neighborhood of Portland, Oregon. His experiences growing up in Northeast Portland helped shape his view of the world.

Music career

Cool Nutz is a major figure in the hip-hop music scenes of Portland, Oregon, and the San Francisco Bay Area. In 1992, he and his friend Bosko Kante started their own record label called Jus Family Records.

At first, his music used a style called G-funk, which has a lot of synthesizer sounds. Over time, his style changed. He began to include parts of other songs and voices in his tracks, a technique known as sampling.

Promoting Hip-Hop in Portland

In 1995, Scott helped start the Portland Oregon Hip-Hop (POH-Hop) Festival. He has worked hard to support and grow the hip-hop community in his city. He has also worked with many famous rappers from the Bay Area, including E-40 and Yukmouth.

In 1997, he signed a hip-hop group called G-Ism to his record label. The group, made up of Portland rappers Ray Ray and Young Randall, released their first album, On a Mission, in 1998. The group stopped making music together in 2001 after Young Randall passed away.

Other Work in Music

Cool Nutz hosts a radio show called the Breakout Show on the station KXJM JAM'N 107.5. The show is on every Sunday night.

He was featured on a track from the 2012 E-40 album The Block Brochure: Welcome to the Soil 3. In that same year, Scott worked as the tour manager for rapper Kreayshawn. He managed her Group Hug Tour, which promoted her first album, Somethin' 'Bout Kreay.
