Early Life and Education
Natassia Zolot was born on September 24, 1989, in San Francisco. Her mother, Elka Zolot, was part of a punk band called The Trashwomen. When Kreayshawn was ten, she moved to East Oakland. She got her first video camera and started making videos about her life and rapping.
When she was 13, Natassia went to MetWest High School. This school was different because students had internships instead of regular classes. She interned at a local radio station. Later, she tried Oakland High School and Alameda High School. She eventually finished her second year at Island High.
At 16, she moved to Berkeley to live with her aunt. She then moved in with her friend V-Nasty and passed her GED test. After graduating, she used financial support to get her own apartment. At 17, she got a laptop and began recording songs. She also started directing music videos for local artists like Lil B. Her videos caught the eye of Dean Patrick Kriwanek, and she received a full scholarship to the Berkeley Digital Film Institute. She later moved to Los Angeles to focus on her music video career. Her manager, Chioke McCoy, encouraged her to start her own music career.
Career Highlights
Kreayshawn was part of a hip hop group called the White Girl Mob (WGM). Her friends V-Nasty and Lil Debbie were also in the group. The White Girl Mob broke up in 2012. However, the whole group appeared in Kreayshawn's video "Go Hard (La.La.La)".
